Review of 6,250mAh Battery smartphone - Doogee Homtom HT6

While Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, Elephone, and OnePlus are making waves at the high-end of the Android smartphone market, some of the lesser known Chinese brands are tackling the low to medium end, including Doogee

Doogee recently has released two smartphones, Doogee Homtom HT 5 and Doogee Homtom HT 6, one has MTK6735P Qual Core processor clocked at 1.0GHz, 5.0 Inch HD Screen with 4G Phone Wood Shell/Apricot Wood Shell, 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM, 8.0MP (SW 13.0MP) Main Camera and 2.0MP (SW 5.0MP) Front Camera, 4250mAh Battery; and another one is our protagonist of today, -Doogee Homtom HT 6, which is a budget device and costs $139.99 with running on MediaTek’s 64-Bit processor.
Here are the pictures of Doogee Homtom HT 5.

The HT6 is dual-SIM, one regular and one micro, and has all the standard connectivity options you would expect on budget devices. There is Wi-Fi ( 802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth, 2G GSM and 3G. The HT6 supports 3G on 900 and 2100MHz. The latter of the two frequencies is the most common 3G frequency and should work in most places around the world, however many carriers also use a secondary 3G frequency range. In Asia and South America this is often 850MHz, but in Europe it tends to be 900MHz. Unfortunately the 3G won’t work in the USA, instead, the standard GSM calls should work. You need to check with your carrier to ensure compatibility or if you trust Wikipedia then the List of UMTS networks page could have the information you need.

Doogee Homtom HT6 Specs
Display:  5.5 inch IPS OGS 720p HD (1280 x 720)
Processor:  1-GHz MTK6735 Quad Core 64-bit
Memory:  2 GB RAM, 16 GB ROM, up to 32GB
Camera:  8 Megapixel Rear Camera (13MP Interpolation) & 2 Megapixel Front-Facing Camera (5MP Interpolation)
Battery:  6,520 mAh
Connectivity:  GPS, microUSB 2.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth
Networks:  3G/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
Software:  Android 5.1 Lollipop with Google Play
Dimensions:  15.38 x 7.7 x 0.99 cm
Weight:  170 grams
Colors:  Black, Silver

Design
The front of the phone is black with a bar at the bottom for the soft keys and room at the top for the front facing camera and the earpiece speaker grill. The top and the bottom edges continue in black while the sides are a metal-grey. The micro USB port and the headphone jack are on the top, on the left side is the power button and on the right are the volume controls. The bottom edge only has a small hole for the microphone.

The back cover is a dimpled plastic (which comes in a variety of colors). Although it is a shiny plastic, the coloring and the dimples make it look at lot more up market, also it doesn’t easily slip from the hand. The back cover starts to curve towards the edges but the middle part is flat.  The right-angled corners combined with the devices straight lines give the phone a tech look and feel, it shouts functional. But overall the design works because it looks like a “smart” device.

Performance
The MediaTek MT6735 is one of MediaTek’s popular 64-bit quad-core processors. It is clocked at 1-GHz and includes the ARM Mali-T720 GPU running at 500 MHz. The Doogee HT6 scores 17064 on AnTuTu, just slightly slower than a Samsung Galaxy S3. Not bad for a budget device. My experience while using the device reflected the benchmark scores, it was fast, fluid and never suffered any noticeable lags during normal usage.

Battery
At 6,520-mAh it could be thought of as being one of the largest, especially since it needs to power the 5.5 inch 720p HD display. 3D gaming is unfortunately the weakest aspect of the batteries performance. Running a test with Epic Citadel shows that the phone can really only handle about 2 hours of intensive 3D gaming. The battery also gets quite warm during 3D gameplay, so much so that the phone actually displayed a warning message about the battery heat!

Thankfully the situation isn’t so bad for other types of usage. You can watch a movie, stored on the phone, for around four hours. The phone can stream YouTube videos for around three hours. You will be able to listen to locally stored MP3 files for around 48 hours on one charge and the device has a 3G talk time of around 12 hours, the 2G talk time is likely to be longer.

Camera
The rear-camera has an 8MP sensor and uses software interpolation to generate 13MP pictures. The pictures are quite remarkable for the price of this device.

Software
The phone runs Android 5.9.1 Lollipop. That version of Android doesn’t exist in either an official or unofficial capacity, so probably this is a custom build for these devices and to differentiate it from other builds the software engineers at Doogee (or maybe at MediaTek) bumped the minor version number up to 9. In terms of functionality the phone is certainly Android 5.1 and I didn’t find any compatibility issues during testing.

The firmware also includes some extra gesture functionality, called “Smart somatosensory” you can configure the gestures for the gallery, to move between pictures; for the music player, to move between songs; for the camera, to take pictures; for the launcher, to move to the next page; and for the unlock screen. The unlock screen gesture seemed to work reasonably well, but the other gestures were basically useless.

Google Play is pre-installed on the device and there is full access to all of Google’s apps including Gmail, YouTube and Google Keyboard etc.

Pricing and conclusion
Competition at the low-end of the smartphone market is certainly heating-up. Nokia’s range of Android-based phones start at $120, and the newly announced Moto E costs just $130. At $140, the Doogee Homtom HT 6 is more expensive than both Nokia’s and Motorola’s offering, but it is cheaper than the Moto G. With a 5.5 inch 720p HD display and a quad-core processor the HT6 is superior (in terms of specs) to the Nokia X or the Moto E, and the bigger display gives it an advantage over the Moto G. However the large battery could be a deciding factor for some users.

Hands on Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 review

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is an excellent option, especially when considering its price, with its positives, such as a nice design, powerful processing package, and great software experience, overshadowing any flaws that the device may have.

Design
Like its predecessor, the Redmi Note 2 features a large 5.5-inch display, but borrows its design language cues from Xiaomi’s newer releases, like the Xiaomi Mi 4i. There is a striking resemblance between the two smartphones, including the soft touch plastic rear with a matte finish, but while the smaller smartphone comes with an unibody design, the rear cover of the Redmi Note 2 can be removed, allowing for access to the battery, microSD card slot, and dual micro-SIM card slots.

Going around the device, the volume rocker is found above the power button on the right side, and the headphone jack and microUSB port are placed up top and at the bottom respectively. The Redmi Note 2 also adds an IR blaster, and the capacitive navigation keys up front below the display are now illuminated and of a red color. The power button and volume rocker don’t offer as much tactile feedback as one may hope for, but there are certainly no issues as far as responsiveness is concerned.

Despite featuring the same display size, Redmi Note 2 comes with a smaller footprint when compared to its predecessor, and manages to be significantly thinner and lighter as well, allowing for a far improved handling experience.

Display
The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display like its predecessor, but sees a bump in the resolution from 720p to Full HD, resulting in a higher pixel density of 401 ppi. This is a significant upgrade, but a necessary one, given the fact that some of the competition in this price range also feature 1080p screens. The display is sharp and offers excellent viewing angles, but the contrast and vividness of the colors could have used a boost. It’s definitely not a bad display by any means, but it certainly isn’t the best out there, even when compared to other similarly-priced smartphones like the Meizu M2 Note.

Performance
Under the hood, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes with an octa-core MediaTek MT6795 Helio X10 processor, clocked at either 2 GHz or 2.2 GHz depending on the version of the device you pick, backed by the PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The processing package is another marked improvement from its predecessor, and as such, addresses all the performance concerns that plagued the original.

Hardware
The Redmi Note 2 comes with either 16 GB or 32 GB versions, with the top-end model featuring 4G LTE connectivity with both SIM slots, and also comes with a standard suite of connectivity options. Given that this is the Chinese model of the phone, there is expandable storage available via microSD card by up to 32 GB, but it is unclear whether the international version will have this feature. With this version, it was possible to only get HSPA+ connectivity on the AT&T network, so it is a good idea to check for compatibility with your home networks before picking up this phone.
The IR blaster functions as expected, although the in-built Mi Remote app may not be compatible with some televisions. Third-party apps are available however, to allow for support with many other TVs. Overall, this is a very nice addition, which isn’t expected with a device that falls in this price range. The rear speaker of the Redmi Note 2 sounds really good, and offers adequate volume to be heard even in somewhat noisy environments. The distortion isn’t as much as seen with previous Xiaomi smartphones, and the only drawback here is its placement on the rear. This is certainly one of the better audio experiences that can be had when compared to other devices that are priced at below $200.

The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 3,060 mAh battery, but despite its size, the battery life isn’t as good as expected. With Wi-Fi on for most of the day, and the screen brightness set to auto, the phone was able to manage 4 hours of screen-on time at most, and lasted for around 12 hours overall. Toning down the usage resulted in the battery life going up to 15 hours, but with only 2 hours and 15 minutes of screen-on time. The battery drain is surprisingly significant when the phone is in the idle state, but hopefully, this is a software issue that can be fixed in future updates. If battery life is a concern, the battery of the Redmi Note 2 is removable, which gives you the option of carrying around a spare.

Camera
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 comes with a 13 MP rear camera with a LED flash and phase detection auto focus, and also packs a 5 MP front-facing unit. While the auto focus is very fast, the actual performance of the camera itself is just about average, as there is a noticeable lack in detail and sharpness in images. Here are the photo examples.

Software
The Redmi Note 2 ships with MIUI 7 based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. MIUI is a very different experience from stock Android, but does have a lot of positives, such as the ability to re-organize the quick toggles, adjust the brightness even when auto brightness is on, and also customize what information is seen in the status bar, along with the option to change the display color temperature or contrast.

You can also change the look and feel of the user interface by taking advantage of the robust theme store that is available, as well as change the functions of the capacitive keys. Useful applications that are pre-installed include the Mi Sound Enhancer and the Xiaomi Backup app, that lets you back up app data, as well as launcher layouts, settings, and account information, without requiring root access to do so. However,  MIUI is not without its drawbacks either, such as the fact that you cannot dismiss notifications from the lock screen, or access any other app from it other than the camera. There is also no app drawer, leaving users dependent on folders to keep things organized and clutter-free. A significant drawback with this Chinese version of the phone is also the lack of any Google Apps, but if you pick up the device after its official release in international markets, this won’t be an issue.

The photographic section is quite discreet, with an Omnivision OV8865 sensor may not provide such good results as Sony we’re used to seeing, but the S700 makes up MStar with Android 5.0 ROM with pure pretty well optimized, which highlights several websites, and provides a smooth Android experience without shortcomings.

One aspect which highlights the MSTAR S700 is in your fingerprint sensor , as it has a high sensitivity of 508 dots per inch, which according to its manufacturer fails only 1 in 5,000 times, which corroborate the different sites, with optimum performance even placing the finger in different positions. Other aspect is a very powerful sound section, despite having only one speaker, and has various profiles as BestAudEnh, BesLoudness, BesSurround lossless mode and Bluetooth, plus we with different gestures like double tap to unlock the terminal or other applications to boot. But the camera sticks out of the back cover, which perhaps can be overcome with proper cover, as occurs as the Galaxy S6, for example.

It’s undeniable that the Elephone P7000 is one of our favorite smartphones. Without giving a removable battery, it manages to combine a fairly successful design in which no missing metal edges and in its rear, despite being slightly convex, makes the rear camera does not protrude , resulting in a very clean design and fresh, despite being polycarbonate.

The device is designed with rounded edges with 7.6 mm thick and that leaves us with premium character design, a reduced side edges of only 0.27 mm and quite acceptable upper and lower frames. Besides being a nice, well built and powerful terminal, the Meizu MX5 has a photographic section above average with a rear sensor CMOS signed by Sony, in particular it is a IMX220 Exmor RS with an aperture f / 2.2 A resolution of 20.7 megapixels and an ISO of between 40 and 1600.

This sensor hasautofocus laser and is capable of capturing video 4K @ 30 frames / sec or record in Slow Motion (100 FPS) to 720p by the new standard H.265. to illuminate the scene one handles dual LED flash (5500K and 2200K), while this camera also has filters Blueglass 5 lens and features like facial recognition, gesture detection, wide angle, panoramic 300°, zero delay, continuous shooting at 30 frames / second approach in just 0.3 seconds.

In short, a very complete and powerful terminal, which includes many the most used sensors, including fingerprints , and where only we miss an NFC chip or a removable battery , since otherwise, the Meizu does not lack MX5 nothing. Of course, none of SD cards, because this memory is not expandable, so we better choose well the model that we buy, or will come later regrets.

Fingerprint Unlocking Comparison Between iPhone 6, Ulefone Be Touch 2, and OnePlus 2

oneplus two/2 smartphone first review from 1949deal

All in all, Cubot X11 and MStar S700 both are two economic phablets, with HD screen and 2GB RAM. If the buyer prefers a more premium design and considers it important water resistance, you should choose the Cubot X11, but the quality of construction will involve renouncing support for 4G networks, increasingly used fingerprint sensor and a removable battery. If instead you prefer a more mundane materials, their choice will be the MStar S700, which offers more power, fingerprint reader and a removable battery, plus support for 4G.

If you prefer fingerprint reader and a better design , choose the Elephone P7000. The Oppo R7 is the clear winner for those who are looking for a premium terminal, more contained and a powerful multitasking experience dimensions (3 GB of RAM), but in return must give up the most popular sensors (FM Radio, prints and NFC) .Besides its reduced thickness makes the battery is not removable.

Xiaomi RedMi Note 2 , the Meizu MX5 and OnePlus 2 all offer a Full-HD phablet with plenty of power for any task.
The price differences are marked with Xiaomi leading the economic section in exchange for a somewhat more moderate multitasking (2GB RAM) and no fingerprint reader or NFC. Moreover, its construction still remain good, is made of plastic.

The Meizu MX5 is the most balanced, with a price that now exceeds 300 euros, but in return offers fingerprint reader , a built in metallic materials and a very intensive multitasking thanks to its 3 GB of RAM. As points against , lack of NFC and its battery is not removable. Both offer Meizu like Xiaomi FM Radio.

The OnePlus 2 is the most complete , with a design that provides very interesting solutions such as USB type C , dedicated button sound or configurable buttons. The SoC is something more powerful despite the cut in frequency and 64-of storage, its 4GB LPDDR4 makes it ideal for those who like to devour terminal ram their candidate. As points against his lack of NFC, FM Radio and its non-removable battery . The price is the highest in the comparison, since part of the 400 euros for the 64GB version essential.

Doogee F3 Pro review: MediaTek MT6735 Octa-core Cortex-A53 at 1.3GHz 3GB RAM 16GB ROM

Doogee is a rising Chinese smartphone OEM that is becoming popular with each passing day thanks to products such as Doogee X5 Pro, and Doogee F5. However, today we have a powerful device from the company called Doogee F3 Pro. As the name suggests, the smartphone is packed with impressive hardware, but does its $159.99 price tag do justice with all the hardware and features that is packed in to it.

Doogee F3 Pro’s design and appearance are all top notch. The front camera sensor has its own unique color combination, which looks even better in distinguishing the body of the smartphone and the camera lens. A combination of both metal and glass makes Doogee F3 Pro a masterpiece in its own right, and that is what we should expect from premium smartphones feature. Furthermore, the rear of the device is even prettier to look at and shares the same traits as the front side of the device.

The rear side of the smartphone is not removable but the device does provide you with sufficient flexibility thanks to two SIM card slots, which will have to be reduced to a microSIM form factor in order to fit. Additionally, there is 16GB of internal storage and Doogee F3 Pro has a microSD card slot that allows you to expand your storage up to 64GB. There is no physical home button; just capacitive buttons that are extremely responsive. A 3.5mm jack is present right at the top, while a microUSB charging port is right at the bottom.

Doogee F3 Pro: Display and resolution
Doogee F3 Pro has a screen size of 5.0 inches and a resolution of 1080p. The visibility of the content was exceptional, and the display was extremely vibrant. Image quality would not decay if we tilted the screen. In addition to a 1080p display, we were thrilled to see that the device is running Android Lollipop 5.1 and it does not lag in any manner whatsoever. Since it is running an updated Android platform, there is a high probability that Google will release a compatible update of Android Marshmallow later on in the year.

The stock interface delivers much better in functionality as compared to what you normally get to see in Android handsets. The interface is very simple in aesthetics and design and in order to deliver the most amount of performance, it features a flat design, with strong yet ‘not too flashy’ app icons that make the interface as smooth as butter.

Doogee F3 Pro: Camera performance
The rear camera is 13MP, and it is thoroughly impressive in terms of the quality of images being snapped. The only thing that we missed having from the front camera sensor was that it was void of a LED flash, which would make images appear brighter in low light conditions. Coming to the image results of the primary camera sensor, we were amazed to see the image quality of the rear shooter, as you will see from the images that have been posted below.

Doogee F3 Pro: Performance (Processing and connectivity)
We fired up AnTuTu and Geekbench to see how the device would fare when pitted against the remaining competition and we have to say that the smartphone might have missed its mark, but it is still able to achieve a satisfactory score, as you can see in the image below.

Doogee F3 Pro not only packs an octa-core processor running at a speed of 1.3GHz (Cortex-A53), but the custom interface features a flat design, and has been optimized for performance. Coming to the connectivity side of things, we fired up the 4G connection and immediately ran a speed test to see what kind of results we would get.

Doogee F3 Pro: Battery life measurement
Doogee F3 Pro does not fit that category thanks to its 2,200mAh cell. We tested this out with the screen brightness of the smartphone set to 100 percent. In this way, you will be able to experience the worst case scenario when you purchase Doogee F3 Pro. Despite the small battery, we were impressed to see that the device is able to last a whole day while connected to the Wi-Fi network and while engaged in casual web browsing. However, 3G and 4G modems are much more power hungry as compared to Wi-Fi adapters, and Doogee F3 Pro was only able to last 11 hours on 3G, and 7 hours on 4G.

Hardware specifications
Chipset: MediaTek MT6735
Processor: Octa-core Cortex-A53 at 1.3GHz
RAM: 3GB
Memory: 16GB (supports a microSD storage card up to 64GB)
Battery: 2,200mAh
Display size: 5.0 inch IPS panel
Screen resolution: 1920 x 1080
Charging port type: microUSB

Final verdict
Except the battery life, Doogee F3 Pro happens to be remarkable phone when it sells at the price of $159.99. Its interface, button placement, performance, and best of all, build quality were all top notch. Performance was very good, even though we were hoping that the clock speed of the processor could have been slightly higher. Now Doogee F3 Pro has 4 color options including black ebony cover, White Bamboo Cover, black and white.
